We would like to invite you to submit your papers to the special section of the journal “Russia and the Pacific” (No. 2, 2023): "Economic Issues of Contemporary Japan". On 4 October 2021, Fumio Kishida was elected as the Japan’s new prime minister who proposed his own “new capitalism” program for reforming the country's economy. It is noteworthy that the new ministerial position on economic security appeared in the Cabinet. It is obvious that Japan, being one of the world's largest economies, having the third nominal GDP, is experiencing serious economic problems also caused by the pandemic. The emergence of new coronavirus variants and the consequent introduction of new lockdowns, shortages of semiconductors, rise in oil prices, disruptions in supplies of raw materials and components from Asia have not yet exhausted their impact as new risks and threats have been added due to a dramatic change in the global geopolitical situation and the emergence of the large-scale energy crisis. It is crucially important that the Japan’s systemic effects of such factors as aging of population, decline in birth rate and the public financial crisis have aggravated over the last 30 years. In this regard, we would like to discuss the macroeconomic, social and foreign economic characteristics and issues of contemporary Japan and its place in the world economy and international economic relations. Please send your papers up to 40,000 characters (including all author guidelines presented on the official website of the journal "Russia and the Pacific": http://www.riatr.ru/pravila_avtor.html) to the responsible editors:
Paper submission deadline is 27 January 2023.
